When you can't be there, I can.
Hello, my name is Annelies. I provide professional, non-medical companionship for your loved one to check-in, when you can't, offering social connection and a second pair of eyes while they adjust to their new "forever home" of senior-care.
You love your mom, dad, or spouse. Age and/or illness has now made you the "parent". It's a tough time. I get it. I cared for my father as his primary care provider. Caretaking is tough. I can help!
You want to know they’re doing well in their senior living center, but you can’t always be there for the everyday moments. Work, distance, family responsibilities, and your own life can make it difficult to check in as often as you’d like. And honestly, even the people who work at these senior centers can't monitor your loved one all the time every second.
HERE'S HOW I CAN HELP:
- Provide a friendly trustworthy presence for you and your loved one.
- Visit your loved one during the day for a few hours to chat with them and check-in.
- Listen to their stories to help them feel safe and connected.
- Sit by them when they do their afternoon senior activities, invite them to engage and stay active.
- Provide a friendly text report with photos and/or videos to you on their day and our time together.
- Be the bridge between you and their care team by noticing something you or they might have missed. (ie: Mom needs new slippers or washing isn't done on schedule)
- Be that second pair of eyes on the staff, facility and care when you can't.
WHAT I DON'T DO...
- NO medical care, lifting, bathing, washing, feeding, toileting, cleaning, driving or medication. (The facility your loved one is in does all that.)
EXPERIENCE YOU CAN TRUST
My career has always involved working closely with people. I spent many years as a high-profile hairstylist serving executive clientele, including Broadway professionals, and had the privilege of working with three consecutive North Carolina governors. I also hold a master’s degree in Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching which helps make the transition to accepting aging, dying, legacy and letting more comfortable, supported and less scary. I know the phases and stages which helps ease the journey. I'm also an author and artist adding a valuable component to my text updates. I'll take beautiful photos of your loved one, share stories from our time together and sometimes capture the afternoon in a drawing, if napping is the activity and time allows. Families can trust, I will bring a professional, reliable, and thoughtful approach to every visit.
Elder Companionship: $85+/hour | 2-hour minimum
Visits are generally 2–3 hours, most often in the afternoon, and scheduled according to my availability. I prefer a small number of ongoing clients so I can provide consistent support. As a hairdresser, I can also provide haircuts for an additional fee.
For families who want peace of mind — and for older adults who deserve to stay connected and remembered.
